As usual I'm months behind! We've been to North Carolina twice, had a great time both trips even if it did rain all weekend the second trip. Got some good training done. The dogs are all doing excellent. Sent a couple pups on to new homes. Next trip, Oklahoma April 30-May 3 for the Top Hand trial!

Snow

We had snow, ice, and more snow yesterday and today. Took the dogs and pups for a run. They had a good time!

Boy, it's been a while since I've updated this thing, what else is new. I've been lots of places and done lots of stuff since the last post.

The Stockdog Journal is going good and the fourth issue (January/February) is about to come out. Check it out and get a subscription!

Dogs are all doing well. I've gone to a number of trials lately. Honeycreek Farm trial, Buckeye Cowdog Trial Nov, Turkey Trot SDT, Fair Whether SDT. I have a litter of pups out of Queen that are doing well at 14 weeks old, they all want to work. Check in the cowdog section to see videos of them on sheep.

The Cowdog Gather, Carter, OK in October was a whole lot of fun. Can't wait 'til next year! I took a bunch of photos and many of them can be seen on the cowdog forum.

Looks like my next trip will be to NC to Karen Hart's for a fun day working cattle.

Okay, so I've been rather pokey about updating! Hey, I've been busy. The Grant Butler clinic in KY was a great time and I'd highly recommend you attend one of his clinics if you get a chance. Grant will be back in KY sometime in the fall. You can check out his website at Butler Stockdogs.

Futurity & other updates

Whoo, haven't updated this journal in a while. The Cottonwood Falls Cowdog Futurity, April 18th-20th, was a lot of fun. Ink was seventh on Friday. I thought he did real good for 13 months old. Got some great photos:

Kenneth Beasley and Sissy won 1st in the Futurity. Laura Stimatze and Slim were 3rd, Laura also was 2nd in Open Saturday and 1st in Open Sunday with Gus. Jody Mikles and his HTC Queen were 3rd in Open Sunday. Queen is Ink's great grandam, she's almost nine years old but still has what it takes.

Returned Rab to his owner. She was real happy with how he's come along, he's settled into working and has some basics on him, he'll be a real good dog for her to learn with.

Last weekend, April 26th, we loaded up the dogs and went to IL to visit with Bruce Hopgood. Hung out and had a good time working some pups. Bruce had a spot on RFD TV a couple weeks ago, a real nice segment, wish it'd been longer!

Talked to Glenn Williams of London, KY the other day and it looks like he's going to have Grant Butler, from TX, come out and do some demos and a clinic in June. 19th - 22nd. I'll post more later when I have more details.

Stimatze Seminar

Alright, I'm playing catch up as usual. March 29th and 30th was Joe and Laura Stimatze's seminar, it was a real good time and I learned a lot, if you ever get a chance to go do! Here's a couple photos:

This is Gin, she is a Jazz/Blue pup, she is now owned by the Whitten Ranch.

I'll be going back to Kansas next week for the Cottonwood Falls Cowdog Futurity. I'll be running Ink.

Updates

Alright, looks like this is where I'll be posting updates made to my website instead of on the front page. This way I can also talk about other things going on- what I've been up to with the dogs, places I've visited, etc. I'm in the process of changing my website around a little bit. I've changed the cow dog links and resources around quite a bit and changed the format of some of the individual pages.

I'll try and post some other updates on here soon.
